Do You Know Everything About Cold Air Intakes?

Your engine needs to perform efficiently at all times. It is like the centre of your car. This means that if the engine is not in the right state, your car will have problems and probably will not even start. You do not of course want this to happen. This is why you need to take great care of your engine. There are some accessories that need be installed to be part of the engine in order to enhance its performance. One of these accessories is the Air intake.

An air intake is an accessory that is installed in a car to enhance the performance and efficiency of the engine. The air intake referred to as a cold air intake is used to cool down the engine to prevent overheating. It brings into the engine cooler air from the outside. This helps keep the engine's temperature in check.
So, how does the Intake work?
Among motorists and mostly racers, it is believed that the colder the air that goes into the engine, the denser the charge will be. This in return equates to a higher horse power. Cold air is also said to have more oxygen as compared to air that is warm. The extra oxygen in this air generates more horsepower thus enhancing the acceleration and the performance of the engine.
When installing an intake, the tube should not run so close to the road. It might suck in water droplets. Water is not compressible like fuel and air. Once the water is sucked and goes to the engine, it might cause the engine to break. So, this should be avoided at all costs. Another precaution is that the tube should not be too small. When the tube is too small, it might result to inbuilt pressure which is harmful to the engine. Too many tube bends should be avoided. It should be as straight as possible to allow efficient flow of air.
The tube should also be made of a material that does not allow absorption or conduction of heat. You can take one made of rubber or plastic.
Cold Air Intakes serve the following purposes;
Engine efficiency
Cold Air intakes increase the gas mileage of a car. This helps the engine to run cooler. A cool engine burns less fuel and operates more efficiently.
High engine Performance
Cool engines improve the performance and acceleration of the engine. This is because cold air has more oxygen that generates more horse power.
Elegance
The intakes come in various designs, shapes, colors and styles. This makes the intakes stylish and functional.
Sound
Intakes give the engine a sporting sound that is attractive and likeable by most motorists.
